3rd Place: Project B – Bradley Wood Camping Pods

Our project is to enable young people to sleep out in the environment whatever the weather.

Our plan is to purchase and install 4 camping pods, which will enhance the facilities currently on offer at Bradley Wood Training Centre and ancient woodland, making it more accessible for Scouts, Guides, Schools and Youth Groups to benefit from living in an outdoor environment.

At the moment Bradley Wood struggles to cater for mixed Groups of young people from schools and youth groups as there aren’t many facilities for sleeping in the environment all year round due to the perception of it being too cold and wet in tents.

These camping pods will be situated within the ancient woodlands. This new and innovative approach will make camping practical and enjoyable all year round for all ages.

Scouting endeavours to enable young people to enjoy new adventures, experience the outdoors, interact with others, gain confidence and have the opportunity to reach their full potential.  By providing the camping pods we will be adding a new dimension to Scouting and opening up the woodland for more mixed groups of children and young people to enjoy.

This proposal will leave a lasting legacy in the heart of Rastrick that will improve the lives of local children and people for many years to come.
